Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan holds review meeting on El Niño effect on agriculture

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today holds a review meeting in New Delhi in view of the El Niño effect on weather and its impact on agriculture. The meeting was attended by the agriculture ministers of several states, secretaries, district collectors, and officials. Discussions also focus on necessary preparations in the event of low rainfall, alternative crop plans, and protecting the interests of farmers.

In a social media post, Mr Chouhan said that considering the possible scenarios of El Niño, the government is fully committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers and minimizing any adverse impacts on agriculture and farming. He added that the government will face every situation with complete preparedness, sensitivity, and coordination so that the farmers do not face any hardship.
