UAPA charged against Shahrukh Saifi, the accused in the Kozhikode train arson case. Talking to Media, ADGP Law and Order of Kerala Police, said Section 16 of UAPA Act charged on the basis of sound evidences. With the charging of UAPA section, ground is clear for NIA to take over the case.
The accused had been radicalized and he had ventured into this arson act with proper planning, ADGP added. The Special Investigation Team submitted its report in the Kozhikode Additional Sessions Court.
It was on the night of the 2nd of this month, the accused had committed the arson on Kannur bound Executive express train. Three passengers lost their lives and nine people were injured in this gruesome incident.
The accused was arrested from Ratnagiri by Maharashtra Police and later handed over to the Kerala Police. The remand period of the accused is till 21st April.
