Australia is home to some of the most terrifying animals in the world. Due to its large variety of natural ecosystems – rainforests, deserts, and mountains – around 10% of the world’s biodiversity is from the Land Down Under. It is also one of the 17 megadiverse countries with almost 70% of the world’s species.
However, the most reported animal incidents in the country are about reptiles, especially snakes.
Snakes are just everywhere in the country and reports of serpents slithering into households and commercial areas are a routine affair.
Despite regular snake sighting, some incidents come with a surprise and shock element that is rather difficult to explain.
Take this example from Brisbane.
A homeowner was stunned when two massive carpet pythons, with a combined weight of over 45 kgs, crashed through his kitchen ceiling on Monday.
David Tait, who lives in Queensland, took immediate action by calling snake catcher Steven Brown, who managed to remove the reptiles from the property. The snakes measured around 2.9 metres and 2,5 metres, according to Brown.
Brown shared pictures of the snakes on the Facebook page of The Brisbane North Snake Catchers, and wrote: “Received a call to Laceys Creek after a customer found 2 very large Coastal Carpet Pythons (Morelia spilota mcdowelli) in his house when he got home.”
“Wasnt till I got there that I found they had come crashing through the customers ceiling in the kitchen. One snake was located next to the front door and the other in a bedroom of the old country home. Which was once the Laceys Creek State School back in the day,” the post added.
According to the snake catcher, the male pythons were probably fighting over a female as it is breeding season in Australia at this time of the year.
After the snakes were captured, they were relocated to a forest 1 km away from Tait’s house.
