Congress Party’s idol, Mahatma Gandhi once said, “an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.” Instead of following the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, Congress Party had invested all their ideas and energies to hurt BJP in Delhi Assembly Election 2020, even if they have to pay huge price for it. In another words, to blind one eye of BJP, Congress Party ended up injuring both of their eyes. What is more appalling is Congress Party is celebrating the complete darkness.
How can India’s oldest political party, which would turn 150 on 28 December this year, can celebrate their humiliating defeat just because its rival BJP didn’t perform well. Congress Party contested 66 out of the 70 seats in which it lost its security deposit in 63 of the seats. Even senior party leaders such as Alka Lamba, Radhika Khera, Haroon Yusuf, Arvinder Lovely lost their security deposits.
Then, Congress’s stalwart leader P Chidambaram, celebrates such embarrassing defeat of Congress by tweeting: “AAP won, bluff and bluster lost. The people of Delhi, who are from all parts of India, have defeated the polarising, divisive and dangerous agenda of the BJP. I salute the people of Delhi who have set an example to other states that will hold their elections in 2021 and 2022.”
Another Congress stalwart Shashi Tharoor, too, found consolation in AAP’s landslide victory. As if he was mentally prepared for Congress candidates to lose their deposits.
National spokesperson of the Congress party Jaiveer Shergill accepts that the larger point is that people voted to solidify Aam Aadmi Party as the undisputed winner to defeat the BJP, which is what led to a transfer of votes from the Congress to the Aam Aadmi Party.
The most cheerful leader is Rahul Gandhi, who congratulated Kejriwal on AAP’s winning in Delhi Assembly Election without even mentioning how Congress candidate bit the dust.
Only sane voice came from Delhi Mahila Congress president, Sharmistha Mukherjee, who asked if Congress has outsourced the task of defeating BJP to state parties.
As a twitterati rightly described Congress supporters are on Twitter are like those musicians in Titanic. They kept playing their music even though the ship kept sinking. Similarly, Congress stalwarts are playing music like those musicians on Titanic, even though ship of Congress is sinking.
