The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has said that the supply of Crude Oil, LPG and Natural Gas in the country remains stable despite the ongoing situation in West Asia. Addressing Inter-Ministerial briefing in New Delhi this afternoon, Additional Secretary in the Ministry, Praveen Khanuja, said that adequate stocks of petrol, diesel and LPG are available across the country. He said the government has taken several measures to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies and maintain energy security. Mr Khanuja shared that yesterday domestic refineries and gas processing facilities recorded production of around 53 thousand metric tonnes, which is about 60 per cent higher than the pre-crisis level. Additional Secretary said the country has comfortable fuel stocks and there is no cause for concern regarding the availability of petroleum products. Briefing the media, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Aparna Sharma, said that the overall stock position of fertilisers across the country is comfortable. She said that for this year’s Kharif season the requirement of fertilisers has been reassessed by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare at over 380 lakh metric tonnes. The Secretary said that farmers have purchased around 86 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers accounting over 23% of the total requirement. She said that currently there is no major challenge in fertiliser availability across the country.
