SASTRA is certainly conscientious and aware of its social responsibilities, more than most corporate houses pan India and certainly ranks on top among the universities, as much as SRMC – personally speaking I have been observing both Mr. S VaithiSubramaniam and also Mr. R Venkatachalam – both have one strong feature in common – they do not rely on laurels and keep outdoing themselves – giving their resources to the society at large – which is a rare quality in modern times. I am reminded of the glorious days of TVS family – certainly I am not making a comparison, but one of memoirs of living through 2 generations. Both of them believe in strong team work and they keep updating themselves in their respective fields and keep building the team.

Dr JSN MURTHY[I just do not have the time to spell out his Degrees and academic accolades], a man who shuns limelight and keeps at what he does best – saving lives – a man who is humble, no fanfare and above all believes that he should do his best – and as a cardiologist I am aware of a family – who for 2 generations – he not only saved their lives , but ensured they live peacefully – not by medications but more by comfort of a single unavoidable surgery – unlike most surgeons who love to hold the scalpel for arriving at a resolution – to him the scalpel is the last resort.
Dr JSNM is another great team builder and a player – leave alone his mentoring skills – one loves the way he handles tough patients – I should know – I am one of his patients.

I am one of those – one in a kind that loves finding faults – and to understand what team is all about – the images above are a mere sample. I felt that this man could do it within the realms of the hospital – and he loves proving I am wrong – the team also works for social causes and the understand the need towards social responsibility.
There was supposedly over a 1000 people at the Sastra campus in Tanjore, yesterday – but today in a small 3 tier town like Kumbakonam the crowd is larger, and is being handled very well; Sastra certainly has a good team in place including its student volunteers and the campus NCC. During the span of short time – 4 kids with issues [ECG/ECHO are all free here to the common folks] and these kids surgical costs are being borne by SASTRA – one fact I learnt this morning was has established a CHARITABLE CORPUS FUND for such activities.
To cut the long story short – if I am to be blessed with people like Ms. MalathI who handles the professional portfolio of Dr JSNM it certainly would make my life easier her patience/tolerance and skills are just amazing – not once have I seen her lose her cool and not even once as she failed to build a team around her as cardio surgery also falls under his purview and there again the surgeon a no nonsense specialist Dr Periaswmay and his team – I missed them today.
As they say – such kind acts go a long way to prove that HUMANITY LIVES.
