Supreme Court’s E-Committee releases e-Courts Mobile app manual

The Supreme Court E-Committee today released a manual for its free e-Courts services mobile application in 14 languages (namely, English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarathi, Kannada, Khasi, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu).

The e-Courts Services Mobile app, which crossed 57 lakh downloads today, aims to benefit citizens, lawyers, litigants, law firms, police, government agencies, and other institutional litigants. The application acts as a personalized digital case diary with case details available on hands(set) at any time of the day, free of cost.

The application and its manuals in English and regional languages can be downloaded from the official website of the E-Committee, Supreme Court of India.

Dr. Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, current Chairperson of the E-Committee, fore-worded the manual while asserting the importance and reach of this citizen-centric mobile app.

He said, “The E-Committee of the Supreme Court has been at the forefront of introducing digital reforms in the field of law. In the past year, the pandemic has also pushed advocates, judges, and litigants to adopt high-tech solutions due to the closure of offices and courts in light of lockdowns and public health concerns.”

Justice Chandrachud emphasised the current need for remote work culture, where virtual courts and electronic case management have become an integral part of the legal profession.

The Indian Judiciary is now embracing technology not just as an interim measure but to transform the legal system to make it more efficient, inclusive, accessible, and environmentally sustainable. “The e-Courts Services Mobile Application is a step in this direction,” said Justice Chandrachud.

Barun Mitra, Secretary, Department of Justice also highlighted the importance of these electronic case management tools for the advocates given how the legal world is gradually turning digital on a global scale.

“The process of ICT enablement of the judicial landscape in India has concurrently made significant strides,” Barun Mitra stated.

The E-Committee manuals explain all features with screenshots so that the users can easily comprehend all steps.

The in-house Human Resource team of the E-Committee, comprising the Master trainers (Judicial Officers & staff) from various High Courts, translated the e-Courts services mobile app manual from English to several regional languages for better accessibility.
