Supreme Court halts money laundering trial of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren

The Supreme Court today stayed the trial in a money laundering case against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. A bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate on Soren’s plea seeking quashing of the case. In his petition, Soren also challenged repeated summonses issued to him by the ED. He has contested a recent Jharkhand High Court order that refused to quash the case against him.
