Almost seven months after it was closed for public visits in light of COVID-19 lockdown, the Statue of Unity will be thrown open for viewing for tourists on Saturday. Sardar Ekta Trust, the managing body for the 182-metre tall statue issued guidelines to ensure that COVID-19 spread is arrested as people gather to catch a glimpse of the spectacular structure.
“Statue of unity will be reopened for visitors from 17th October 2020 with the slot timings. Tickets can be booked online only,” the official website of Statue of Unity said.
The updated guidelines in light of COVID-19 include:
Ticket booking can be done by the website only. No offline tickets will be issued at any attraction.
The entrance of each attraction to have mandatory and hygiene and thermal scanning provision.
Use of face cover and mask is mandatory for all the visitors.
No group photography within the premises is allowed.
The visitors should follow the social distancing norms.
The visitors should have to stick to time limits inside the attraction.
Vehicles shall be parked in designated areas.
The security staff inside the attraction will ensure that there is no crowding in any area. Visitors are required to be present before 15 minutes during their respective slot timings.
Besides, in order to restrict footfall and avoid crowding, only 2500 visitors will be allowed at the venue per day, while only 500 will be allowed to visit the viewers’ gallery at 153 metres. Further, tickets will be provided in two-hour slots to visitors and entry will be permitted only during the slots mentioned on the tickets.
According to the website, tourist attractions like Jungle Safari, Children Nutrition Park, Vishwa van, River Rafting, Ekta Nursery, Cactus And Butterfly Garden have also been opened for visitors from October 15 onwards with their slot timings.
