Alappuzha: The state general education department has issued guidelines ahead of resuming 10th plus two classes. In the first phase of the school reopening, maximum 50 percent of students will be allowed to visit the schools.
In the first week, the classes will be arranged as setting one bench for one student. The classes will be conducted as two shifts.
The first shift will be scheduled from 9 am to 12 pm or 10 am to 1 pm and the second shift will be held from 12 pm to 4 pm or 1 pm to 5 pm.
The number of students allowed in the school must be fixed after determining the total number of students, available classrooms and other facilities.
Students must keep a safe distance of 2 metres at the school. If necessary, other classrooms can be used to ensure social distancing norms.
The time of class including commencement, break and dispersal for various batches should be fixed accordingly.
COVID-19 patients (students, teachers, staff), people with symptoms and quarantined people must return to the school after completing the quarantine period prescribed by the health department.
The school authorities are directed to ensure sanitization facilities on the campus.
Mask, digital thermometer, sanitizer and soap must be arranged in every school.
Teachers must maintain a safe distance in the staff room as per COVID-19 protocol.
Posters, stickers and signboards on social distancing must be displayed at the schools.
If necessary, a facility for health check-up of staff and students must be arranged.
Social distancing should be assured in school buses and other vehicles.
All schools are directed to form a COVID cell to coordinate COVID-19 preventive measures and strictly observe the protocol.
The COVID cell members must hold a meeting once a week to review the COVID situation at the school.
Other guidelines
Students must follow the COVID-19 protocol as there are chances to get exposed to the virus during the journey to the school.
Food, water and other items should not be shared with others. Dining together should be strictly avoided.
If necessary, the school authority should make arrangements for counselling to solve the problems of students. Special care must be given to differently-abled children.
A sick room must be arranged in the school for monitoring students with symptoms. Primary safety kit must be made available in this room.
