SC to hear ‘The Kerala Story’ issue on May 15


In another development related to the film ‘The Kerala Story’ the Supreme Court on Tuesday, said that it will hear the petition filed seeking a ban on the film on May 15. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal sought an early hearing of the petition filed against the Kerala High Court order before a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. On this, the court ordered a hearing on May 15.

Earlier, the Kerala High Court had refused to stay the film. On the other hand, on May 3, the Supreme Court refused to hear the petition of Jamiat Ulema Hind seeking a stay on the release of the film ‘The Kerala Story’.

The petition states that the film defames the entire Muslim community, especially the Muslim youth. At the same time, it is going to endanger their lives and livelihood. The petition states that this is a direct violation of the right to equality and life. It is noteworthy that the film was released on May 5.
