Civil Aviation Ministry announced a scheme providing a window up to 31st of January for voluntary registration of all drones and their operators. In a notice, the Ministry said, those who fail to register will face action under the Indian Penal Code and the Aircraft Act.
A Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Co-Chair Committee on Drones last year had estimated that the number of illegal drones in India was likely to be between 50,000 and 60,000.
