Red Fort closed to public ahead of Independence Day celebrations

Delhi’s iconic Red Fort complex has been closed to the public until the 80th Independence Day celebrations on August 15. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has issued an order in this regard in view of the ongoing preparations for the national celebrations at the historic monument. A senior ASI official said that such orders are issued every year ahead of Independence Day.On August 15, only those holding government-issued passes will be allowed to enter the Red Fort complex to attend the Independence Day celebrations, which are conducted under heightened security arrangements.
