Prime Minister to unveil development projects worth over 17 thousand 500 crore rupees in Assam this afternoon

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Assam to inaugurate, dedicate and lay foundation stones of several projects worth 18 thousand crore rupees virtually from Jorhat. The Prime Minister stayed overnight night at the Assam Police Guest House at Kohora range in the UNESCO World Heritage site Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. Early morning today, Mr. Modi undertook a jeep and elephant safari inside the park and also witnessed a line-up of draught elephants before leaving for Arunachal Pradesh to attend the Viksit Bharat Viksit Northeast programme.

After attending programmes at Arunachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister will visit Jorhat at around 12:15 midday where he will inaugurate an 84-foot-high statue of legendary Ahom warrior Lachit Borphukan at Hollonga Pathar. The Prime Minister will undertake a 3 km long road show from Hollonga Pathar to Meleng Meteli Pothar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public meeting at Meleng Meteli Pothar in Jorhat after unveiling the statue of Lachit Borphukan and will virtually inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stones of several projects. Mr. Modi will inaugurate the Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital, a Child Care Unit at B. Baruah Cancer Institute, Guwahati; Barauni to Guwahati natural gas pipeline and two crude oil pumping stations of Oil India Limited.

The Prime Minister will virtually lay the foundation stone of Sivasagar Medical College and Hospital; Guwahati and Digboi Refinery expansion projects including IOCL’s Bethkuchi Terminal in Guwahati.

Besides, Mr. Modi will dedicate to the nation the doubling of railway lines from Dhupdhara to Chaygaon and New Bongaigaon to Sarbhog. In addition, Mr. Modi will also virtually perform the ‘Griha Pravesh’ ceremony for over 5 lakh 50 thousand homes constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Grameen.
