Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke to Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and took detailed stock of the flood situation in Assam.In a social media post, Mr Sonowal said he is currently in Dibrugarh, visiting the affected areas, assessing the ground situation and standing with the flood-affected people. He said the prime minister has always held Assam close to his heart.Mr Sonowal added that, reflecting the prime minister’s commitment to swift action, an inter-ministerial team has already reached the state and is moving rapidly to the affected districts. He said the central government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Assam and has assured all necessary support for relief and rehabilitation.
