The Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has firmly said that Citizenship Amendment Act is meant for giving citizenship and not for scraping anyone’s citizenship.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at Belur Math, the headquarters of RamKrishna Math and Mission, this morning, Mr. Modi appealed to the youth to come forward to remove misunderstanding on the issue.
The Prime Minister asserted that confusion is being created on the act for political reasons. He clarified that there will be no adverse impact of the Citizenship Amendment Act in North Eastern region of the country.
Criticizing Pakistan, Mr. Modi said that oppression on minorities in that country on religious ground will be removed by this new act. He further said that by amending the citizenship act, the areas of granting citizenship have been increased.
The Prime Minister sought the cooperation of youths to fulfill the dreams of Swami Vivekananda to build New India.
The Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is being celebrated as National Youth Day throughout the country today. Mr. Modi offered Puja at RamKrishna Mandir in Belur Math this morning.
