PM Modi dedicates to the nation two Ayurveda institutes at Jamnagar and Jaipur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that Ayurveda is the heritage of India, which has focus on the well-being of the whole humanity. Dedicating two future-ready Ayurveda institutions, Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, Jamnagar and National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur to the nation through video conferencing on 5th Ayurveda Day, Mr Modi said, it is a matter of immense happiness for every Indian that our traditional knowledge is now enriching other countries as well. He said, it is a matter of pride that World Health Organization, WHO has selected India to set up its Global Centre for Traditional Medicine. Mr Modi said, India has a great heritage related to health but this knowledge has been in the books, ures and in the tips of grandmothers. The Prime Minister said, this knowledge needs to be developed according to modern requirements. He said, in India, new research is being done combining the ancient medical science and knowledge and the information received from the modern science of the 21st century.

Both the Institutes are premier institutions of Ayurveda in the country and are expected to play global leadership roles in the growth and development of Ayurveda in the 21st Century. The dedication of these institutes to the nation is a historic step not just in the modernization of Ayurveda education, but in the evolution of traditional medicine itself. This will provide them the autonomy to upgrade the standard of Ayurveda education, and frame various courses as per emerging national and international demand. Utilizing the immense untapped potential of AYUSH systems of health care for providing effective and affordable solutions for public health challenges is a priority of the government.
