Katy Perry is coming. So is Dua Lipa. On November 16, OnePlus will kick-off its biggest community event ever as it brings the two global pop stars to the OnePlus Music Festival in Mumbai. Not only is this the company’s first mega music concert, it is also worth noting that OnePlus has decided to host it in India, believing and hoping that with its Indian fans it will be able to create a memorable party.
So far, it has all the signs of a grand party, something that OnePlus fans should not miss. The company is promising that the evening of November 16 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai is going to be a celebration of music never before seen in India. Or in the words of OnePlus, the Festival ‘promises audiences a night of stellar music that brings together artists from a diverse range of genres.’
The OnePlus Music Festival will see global icons Katy Perry — the first teaser of the event feature her hit title Roar extensively — and Dua Lipa. Perry will headline the event. The two stars will be joined by Amit Trivedi, Ritviz, The Local Train and AswekeepSearching, all coming together for what OnePlus claims to be ‘a grand celebration of music’.
In other words, the OnePlus Music Festival is likely to be an event where the company gives its fans a break from all the dazzling phones — and TVs — that it has launched this year so far. Instead, the focus is going to be on music, fun, party- probably a celebration of the Rs. 500 crore revenue that the company generated in the recent Amazon festival sale.ADVERTISEMENT
This one, unlike the OnePlus pop-up events, is not a free-entry event. Instead, like the OnePlus launches, OnePlus fans will have to buy a ticket for this event too. The company is already selling the tickets, starting at Rs 3,000, on its website. The event will be held at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. A separate zone will be created at the venue to let “Super Fans” enjoy the concert from as close to the stage as possible.
For those who won’t be able to make it to the main event in Mumbai, OnePlus is hosting a couple of pre-party tours in select cities. OnePlus fans in Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Gurugram, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru will be able to attend these. And fans in these cities will get to experience performances from well-known bands such as When Chai Met Toast, The Local Train, Fossil and Rhapsody.
The event — or rather events once we consider the pre-party tours — is one more step in OnePlus establishing itself as a brand that is more than just about selling phones. Since the very beginning when it launched its first phone in a crowd-funding experiment, OnePlus has relied heavily on its community. It has nurtured that community, it regularly talks to its fans, takes their feedback, and hosts meet and greet sessions with all those who use its products.

In a way, this outreach program allows OnePlus to show its fans that it cares. It also shows its users that OnePlus is more than just about selling a device. Instead, it is a company that likes to stay in touch with its users and wants its existing users to choose OnePlus every time.
