“No democratic system” for Afghanistan – Taliban Council to rule?

Afghanistan may be ruled by a Taliban Council under the movement’s supreme leader, Haibatullah Akhundzada, according to senior member Waheedullah Hashimi.

“There will be no democratic system at all because it does not have any base in our country,” Hashimi said. “We will not discuss what type of political system should we apply in Afghanistan because it is clear. It is sharia law and that is it.”

The Taliban’s recruitment drive will also reach out to the Afghan Army they’ve waged war against for decades, especially pilots, to join “their brothers, their government”.
