Owing to Cyclone Vayu, Mumbai is receiving good rainfall giving Mumbaikar some respite from the heat. But officially monsoon will arrive in Mumbai by Sunday.
According to the Asian Age, a good spell of rains are likely over Mahabaleshwar, Vengurla, Matheran, Dahanu, Satara, Kolhapur, and Mumbai. As per Skymet Weather, a private weather forecasting agency, the Cyclonic system has moved away but its outer peripheral clouds are affecting Maharashtra. In addition to that, strong winds from the southwest direction are blowing in the state, which has initiated rains.
A report of Skymet Weather read, “A trough is extending from coastal Karnataka up to Kerala. This trough is moving across the Maharashtra coast. Thus, good on and off rains are expected to continue over the entire coastal area of Maharashtra including Mumbai, until the arrival of monsoon.” Since Thursday, the Santacruz and Colaba observatories recorded 17.4mm and 6mm of rainfall.
