Modi gets into election campaign mode in Bengal

INDSAMACHAR

It is a well-known fact that West Bengal – or rather Kolkata – was in the news in the last six days. Tensions prevailed between the centre and the Mamata government, about the CBI questioning a top polici officer of the West Bengal police.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited Bengal thrice in a week. Modi addressed a rally in Moinaguri in northern West Bengal and got into his election mode.

Addressing a rally in Jalpaiguri, north Bengal, Modi talked about tea being the connection between north Bengal and him. “You people grow tea. I make tea,” he said.

The prime minister announced benefits for tea plantation workers, saying they are now entitled to a pension. Over 40 crore workers In the unorganised sector would benefit from this scheme.

Modi criticised the Mamata Banerjee government for not bothering about the situation in north Bengal. The law and order situation is worsening, industries have not been developed, people are migrating, projects have been stalled, but “Didi” was not bothered.

With the Lok Sabha elections scheduled in May this year, Modi is apparently getting ahead of the others in the campaign race.
