Microsoft may bring its biggest change to Windows OS this year, reveals company’s job listing

Look like Microsoft is planning to bring back the love for Windows back into the hearts and minds of its fans and those who have moved to other operating systems. Going by the new job listing on the company’s website for the software engineering role in the Windows Core User Experiences team, the firm is planning a ‘sweeping visual rejuvenation of Windows’ on Surface and OEM devices.

“On this team, you’ll work with our key platform, Surface, and OEM partners to orchestrate and deliver a sweeping visual rejuvenation of Windows experiences to signal to our customers that Windows is BACK and ensure that Windows is considered the best user OS experience for customers,” stated a part of job listing.

Although the firm removed the phrase ‘sweeping visual rejuvenation’ soon after The Verge noticed it, the job description still drops hints on a major visual change coming to Windows OS in future. It’s not a surprise that Microsoft has been planning an overhaul since past decade, but it this definitely is a step forward in the same direction.

More recently, Windows Central spotted a major design change in Windows, slated for 2021. The report from October added that Microsoft could be changing some top-level user interfaces such as the Start menu, Action Center, and even File Explorer with modern designs and better animation. The project is being called as ‘Sun Valley’ and could arrive as a part of Windows 10 ‘Cobalt’ release in holiday season 2021.

It all lines up with the previous claims made by Microsoft. The company, back in May last year, a few months after chief product officerPanos Panay took over the team handling this project, said that it will be ‘reinvesting’ in Windows 10 in the year 2021. And ‘Sun Valley’ might just be the result.
