President of Maldives Dr Mohamed Muizzu will arrive in New Delhi today on a five-day state visit to India. During the visit, the Maldives President will meet President Droupadi Murmu. He will also discuss bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Ministry said that Dr Muizzu will also visit Bengaluru and Mumbai to attend business engagements during his stay.
Maldives is India’s key maritime neighbour in the Indian Ocean Region and holds a special place in the Prime Minister’s vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) and India’s Neighbourhood First Policy. The visit of President Muizzu to India after the recent visit of the External Affairs Minister to Maldives is testimony to the importance that India attaches to its relations with the Maldives. The visit is expected to lend further momentum to cooperation and robust people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Earlier he had visited India in June this year to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the council of ministers.
