Making India an energy Powerhouse

Power is one of the most critical components of infrastructure, essential for the economic growth and welfare of the nation and the power sector of India is one of the most diversified in the world.

As the country’s electricity consumption is increasing, and to meet this demand NTPC is doing everything it can to provide it in accordance with grid requirements. NTPC has ramped up production to meet rising demand, with a 23% increase in generation from NTPC group units compared to the previous year.

To meet the increase in demand, following actions have been taken:

• As part of its flexible coal use policy, NTPC is arranging coal at stations where stock levels are critical.
• Constantly collaborating with Coal India and Railways in order to supplement coal supply at crucial stations and divert rakes wherever required.
• Augmenting 2.7 Lakh metric tonnes of import coal left out from the previous contracts placed.
• Darlipalli Unit-2 (800 MW) is now operational, with commercial operations beginning from September 1, 2021. The plant is a pit-head station, with coal supplied by an NTPC captive mine (Dulanga).
• Another decision taken is increasing coal production from all captive mines of NTPC and the states are also requested to schedule offtake from the gas Stations.
States are urged to schedule power for at least a week in order to plan for establishing gas arrangements for generator companies.
