Kerala : Kannur closes borders with Kasaragod; number of persons in hospital isolation increases

Kannur: With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the number of persons kept in isolation at hospitals are also on the increase. 72 persons are in hospital isolation on Monday which was 49 earlier.

On Monday alone, more than 400 people have been added to isolation in the district. With this there are 6,504 persons in isolation as of Monday.

Kannur district administration is exercising severe caution as it shares borders with Kasaragod where large number of coronavirus infection cases have been reported.

It has been decided to open 17 isolation centres. Anjarakkandi medical college, pre-metric hostels and buildings under KINFRA will be turned into quarantine centres if needed.

All roads from Kasaragod to Kannur have been closed. Authorities have tried to close all roads except the National Highway. Barricades have been put in place. Strict screening will be held on the National Highway
