There were allegations against the UAE Consul general and attaché in connection with the case. So, the NIA team will fly to UAE to find out how diplomatic system was misused to benefit the smugglers. Also, they will initiate action to bring back Faisal Fareed, one of the suspects who is in custody of Dubai police at present.
An official at the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the NIA will examine those who handle the diplomatic baggage in UAE and about the hawala transactions, distribution of hawala fund and people involved in it.
As the officials at the consulate have diplomatic privileges, they cannot be interrogated. The NIA has requested for permission to meet the officials at the consulate. They will seek permission of the UAE government in this regard.
