Investigations in gold smuggling, drug racket cases reach Mollywood

Kochi: The investigation into the gold smuggling and drug racket cases have reached the Malayalam film industry as well. 

The state special crime branch has forwarded a letter to the Kerala Film Producers Association demanding the list of movies that were released in 2019.

192 films were released in the year 2019. Although the industry came to a standstill due to COVID-19 in 2020, movies were released in the state until .

The investigation team will look into whether black money was laundered under the name of movie production. It was in this regard that the special crime branch unit sent the letter to the producers association.

The details about the producers, movies that enjoyed financial success, production cost, remuneration of the stars have been sought from the association.
