Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik called an informal meeting of State Administrative Council to review current situation particularly in the context of Pulwama Terror Attack and subsequent developments. He has informed of gradual induction of additional Central Forces for election purposes.
Talking about Shortage of stock of LPG, he said it the is result of blockage of National Highway for 7 days in past & blockage for the past 4 days, leading to disruption of supplies from Jammu to Srinagar. The government is taking measures to enhance the supplies to the Kashmir region.
He said that the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir rationed petrol & diesel supply to conserve whatever stocks were available for emergency purposes. Steps were taken to increase availability of stocks in valley. Public should see this as an administrative measure in a shortage situation. Public need NOT panic.
On Medicines, he said that Instructions to hospitals to increase availability of medicines, also should be seen in the context of shortage of supplies as a result of the prolonged disruption in transport due to road blockage due to snow fall. Necessary steps being taken for getting additional stock.
He said that Additional companies of Central Forces being inducted at the moment. More would be inducted in coming weeks. Large police forces are needed for Lok Sabha polls due to possibility of increase in terror activities against candidates and voters on a much larger scale. Governor has reiterated that induction of forces is in context of conducting elections. Governor appealed to the people not to believe in rumours of any extreme nature which are circulating widely in some quarters and to remain calm and there is no need to panic.
