Washington D.C. [U.S.A.], Aug 25 : Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has agreed to testify on the company’s algorithms and content monitoring before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on September 5.
“CONFIRMED: Twitter CEO @jack Dorsey will testify September 5 before E&C on the company’s algorithms and content monitoring,” Energy and Commerce said in a tweet.
Committee Chairman Greg Walden called Twitter “an incredibly powerful platform that can change the national conversation in the time it takes a tweet to go viral.”
“When decisions about data and content are made using opaque processes, the American people are right to raise concerns,” he said in a statement.
“This committee intends to ask tough questions about how Twitter monitors and polices content, and we look forward to Mr. Dorsey being forthright and transparent regarding the complex processes behind the company’s algorithms and content judgement calls,” he added.

This comes amid scrutiny of Twitter and other tech giants, like Facebook, over their handling of attempts by Russia to spread misinformation in order to meddle in US elections.
Dorsey is also expected to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee next month, alongside Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and a representative from Google, CNN reported.
