Indian-Born Cheetah Mukhi Gives Birth to Five Cubs

Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav today informed that Indian-born cheetah Mukhi has given birth to five cubs. In a social media post, Mr Yadav said that this is the first time in recent history that an Indian-born cheetah has reproduced. Calling this a landmark achievement for Project Cheetah, he said that the successful reproduction by the India-born cheetah is a strong indicator of the species’ adaptation, health, and long-term prospects in Indian habitats.

The Minister added that it reinforces optimism about establishing a self-sustaining and genetically diverse cheetah population in the country, further advancing the nation’s conservation goals. He further informed that the mother and cubs are doing fine.
