India is not soft on its big neighbour. Military policy and diplomacy are far beyond twitter discussions.

The LAC (Line of Actual Control) is on the news yet again as tensions between the Indian Army and the PLA escalated in the last week. Nobody knows the exact situation on the ground but a few media houses as usual report unconfirmed news of Indian Army soldiers detained and released.

The Chinese have objected to the construction of a new road along the Galwan river bank towards the LAC. India’s relation with China is always Cat on the wall, given the latter’s propensity to backstab us on numerous occasions. The PLA is well aware of the fact that it’s not the same Indian Army which it had defeated in 1962. We won a war in 1971, and we reclaimed our territory (Kargil) in 1999.  Thanks to the daring leadership of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, Indian Army is now in the safe hands. General MM Narawane’s statement has rattled the Chinese establishment as they have activated their proxy in Nepal to escalate issues with India. General Narawane is right, they are acting at the behest of someone else. Now China’s threat shouldn’t be taken lightly, not only they are good in threatening allies to unite but also their presence in Social Media platforms. China has activated its cyber cells across all SM platforms, as they have penetrated deep inside our ecosystem. They are well aware that taking the “Left” side of the journey will bring them no good, hence their cyber agents masquerade as “Right” activists target the popular audience to sell their narrative.

“Social Media has become a weapon of the modern armed forces” – Lt Gen Satish Dua(retd) Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, Commanded the 15 corps, Planned and executed the surgical strike inside PoK. The General officer has been vocal about the information warfare for a long time. After the balakot airstrike, our neighbour took to twitter to belittle our Airforce for dropping the bombs in empty places and they were chased away by the PAF. While the truth is known to everyone, we didn’t employ resources to counter their propaganda. Social Media is a necessary evil, and we can’t afford to steer clear of SM engagements, says Major Madhan Kumar(retd) the officer commanded a company of Indian Army and was responsible for counter-terror operations. Likewise, the Chinese propaganda is prevalent today, with some of the mainstream media houses publishing unverified news that disparages the Indian Army, and our reputation.

I spoke to Major Madhan Kumar exclusively to understand better aspects of the prevailing situation.  “War is not numbers game (Casualty), it’s all about the result,” says the officer. This issue shouldn’t be looked into in isolation. All likely the local commanders will hold talks to settle the disputes bilaterally. If things escalate, the Army will respond befittingly. India’s military optics of dealing with Pakistan shouldn’t be compared with China. We will choose our playground. They’ve chosen Ladakh as their response to abrogation of article 370. No, they are not friends with Pakistan, China is paranoid about India’s posture on PoK as their investment in OBOR will hang like a pendulum if India annexes PoK. China is cornered by many countries for exporting a deadly virus to the world. Australia has called for an inquiry into the origins of the COVID19 pandemic, which caused Beijing to implement sanctions on some agricultural goods. China also imposed an 80% tariff on barley imports from Australia. While Australia will respond to disputes in areas like Coal and Beef. India and Australia could sign an agreement for a Military base in Andaman’s and Cocos islands to control Chinese aggression. This will enhance Maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region. The US President’s stand on China’s aggression is an open secret. Trump’s U-turn is a matter of concern to many countries to take on China in the global forum. Perhaps, Trump, has an election coming up which is of paramount importance to him as he says “Nobody in 50 years has been weaker on China than sleepy Joe Biden”.  Given the circumstances, it won’t be a cakewalk for China to afford to lock horns with India. India’s relations with other countries are stronger than before. Taiwan is giving nightmares to China on the one hand, and the virus export has destroyed their reputation globally, says the Retired Indian Army officer who feels India – America relations will prompt China to think n number of times before escalating the matter.

In a nutshell, the Indian Army will take care of the situation in the LAC, it’s our responsibility to identify the traitor among us. The majoritarian handles that were vocal for popular Hindu sentiments are exposing themselves with Pro-China stand – which undeniably jeopardises our unity. The Chinese establishment knows that they can’t afford to wage war against India given the new Indo- American relations, and PM Modi’s close bonding with other world leaders like Benjamin Netanyahu, Emanuel Macron, Boris Johnson, Vladimir Putin. Nevertheless, militarily speaking, we are in best hands. The Indian Army is high on morale, and our military leadership is proficient in handling crisis. As of March 2020, China’s export to India is 5838500 USD and 36% of China’s export is electrical machinery. China will do everything it can to destabilise our unity and its target is to sabotage our economic prospects. From exporting virus to the world to threaten neighbours with military deployment, China has proved its unreliability in all forms of bilateral relations.
