India China relationship and situation at LAC

It’s been exactly three months now to the Galwan valley face off between the Chinese People Liberation Army (PLA) and the Indian Army. Since then there’s a sense of uneasiness at the LAC and tension has increased between the two countries.

This has happened due to the expansionist regime of China’s CCP lead by President Xi Jingpin which is hell bent to unilaterally change the status quo at the LAC. Many meetings at all levels starting from Corps Command & Brigade levels to diplomatic levels which have been inconclusive as China is not ready to adhere to the Indian demands of status quo ante to pre April levels and completely de-esclate and disengage.

In the past one week there have been meetings between the Defence Ministers, Foreign Ministers on the sidelines of the SCO in Moscow , Russia where India has clearly stated it’s concerns with the Chinese counterparts. Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had stressed upon status quo ante whereas the Indian Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar had told that India will only push it’s troops back from the LAC after verifying the action of PLA on the ground. Although both countries have agreed for further talks so that de-escalation could be done.

Even defence minister Rajnath Singh in his address to the Lok Sabha on the LAC issue and standoff with China categorically stated that China tried to change the status quo of LAC unilaterally in May and after the command level talks on 3rd June it betrayed India with an attack in the Galwan valley on 14th – 15th June in which 20 braveheart soldiers gave supreme sacrifice but India too inflicted more damage to China. Rajnath Singh also clarified that talks at various levels are taking place to ease the tension between the countries.

As there is a big trust deficit towards China, the Indian government lead by PM Narendra Modi is leaving nothing to chance. All basic amenities are being provided to the forces and further reinforcements are also being made. All provisions of low temperature support equipments , food supplies, strengthening of arms and artillery have been going on in a continuous manner.

Indian Army had pre-empted Chinese incursion and thus made readjustments in it’s deployments and forward posts. During such measures the Indian Army has taken key heights such as Black Top, the Helmet Top, the certain parts of Kailash ranges and other key ranges adjoining across the LAC in the Eastern Ladakh.

A tight vigil is being maintained by the Indian Army all across the LAC and International borders with China starting from Ladakh in the north to the Arunachal Pradesh in the east. With regular visits by the Chief of Army Staff MM Narvane to CDS Bipin Rawat in Ladakh to visits by Air Chief Marshall RS Bhaduria at the Eastern commands is a sign of how tense the situation on ground is.

With already Rafale jets formally being inducted into the IAF adds to the fire power of India. As the CDS Bipin Rawat said that the Indian Armed Forces are ready and can tackle two front war if required in a clear signal to Pakistan too as it’s a puppet in the hands of China.

All said and done the role of improving infrastructure by the Border Road Organisation (BRO) is adding to the capabilities. All weather roads along with a new road to Ladakh from Nimu via PaduPadum has been made. Heavy machinery required for making and maintaining roads along with snow cutters are in place to deal with harsh weather during the winters which is just round the corner.

Indian government has also acted strongly against the Chinese companies and hit China financially. More than 100 Chinese Apps have been banned by the government and orders to various Chinese companies been cancelled.

Message to China is clear from India. China should forget expansionism and tow Indian line or else it will be a long haul. Entire world is backing India and is standing like a rock behind it leaving China isolated at the global levels. Ball is now in China’s court to act as India has made up it’s mind to never trust China.
