In Telangana, incessant heavy rains lashed several parts of the state. Normal life has been thrown out of gear at various places including in Hyderabad due to water-logging and residential colonies being flooded with rainwater. At least 8 persons died in rain related incidents. 6 died and 2 injured when a wall collapsed at Bandlaguda near Hyderabad, two more died when a house collapsed in Ibrahimpatnam area.
In the capital city Hyderabad, 19 teams of disaster management remained on ground, with boats being used to rescue stranded residents. 800 people have been shifted from low lying areas in Hyderabad by using boats to the nearest community hall last night. A red category warning has also been sounded to people in Hyderabad asking them not to come out unless it is an emergency. People living in low lying areas have been asked to be vigilant following Met officials issued a heavy rain warning till this afternoon.
Following heavy inflows to Himayatsagar reservoir near Hyderabad local officials opened 4 gates last midnight and released over 16 thousand cusecs of water to Moosi River.
Heavy rains pounded over several parts of the state especially east and north districts of the state. Rivers and rivulets are on spate and water levels in reservoirs over Krishna Godavari rivers have reached their brim.
