ICMR facilitates licensing of 3 Indigenous Biomedical Technologies to Indian pharmaceutical & vaccine manufacturers

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) today facilitated the licensing of three indigenous biomedical technologies to leading Indian pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturers to advance cancer and infectious disease solutions. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that these technologies will advance indigenous development of next-generation therapeutics and vaccines. It added that these technology transfers mark another significant step towards accelerating the translation of publicly funded research into affordable healthcare solutions and strengthening India’s biomedical innovation ecosystem. Speaking on the occasion, Director General of ICMR, Dr Rajiv Bahl, said that the institute is committed to ensuring that publicly funded research translates into products that improve health outcomes. He added that through initiatives such as Medical Innovations Patent Mitra, ICMR is strengthening the pathway from scientific discovery to commercialisation by fostering partnerships between researchers and industry. Dr Bahl noted that these technology transfers demonstrate the growing maturity of India’s biomedical innovation ecosystem and represent another step towards achieving self-reliance in healthcare innovation.
