HM Amit Shah says BJP will get full majority in Tripura assembly elections

In an interview to a news agency, he said that the BJP is seeking a mandate to make the state prosperous in the next five years building on the development initiatives of the party-led government. Mr Shah said the BJP’s ‘ChaloPaltai’ slogan in the last election was not a slogan to come to power in the state but to change the situation in Tripura. He said, Congress and CPI-M joined hands shows that they are not in a position to defeat BJP on their own.

Mr Shah said that BJP will also increase its seats and vote share in the upcoming Tripura assembly elections. Tripura will go to the polls on Thursday to elect a new assembly. Home Minister said that the BJP-led government has taken steps to strengthen local languages in the northeastern states and added that there is no big official programme in Delhi without participation of artists from the northeast. He said under PM Modi’s leadership, several steps have been taken for the welfare of people in the northeast.

Mr Shah said the party will come back to power with full majority in Karnataka.

Talking about on restoration of statehood in Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Shah said he had clearly stated that statehood will be restored in J&K after elections. He added that the process of preparation of voters’ list is nearing completion in the UT and the Election Commission has to take a call on elections.

Over Article 370, Mr Shah said, since 1950, it was on our agenda to remove Article 370 from Jammu & Kashmir. He added that after the abrogation of Article 370 the development work is taking place at faster pace and even the terrorist activities have also been reduced significantly in the UT.

On the left wing extremism, the Home Minister said, in the last 9 years, left wing extremism almost eliminated from Bihar and Jharkhand.

Calling it a big achievement for the government, he said that for the first time in 20 years, the total casualties of locals and security personnel has gone below 100.

On G20, Mr Shah said, India is holding the G20 presidency during PM Modi’s tenure and he should get the credit for a successful G20 summit.

Over the Popular Front of India (PFI), Mr Shah said, the government has banned it successfully, because PFI is radicalism in the country. He said PFI is trying to prepare raw materials for terrorism and the government has so many documents which prove that the activities being carried out by the PFI were not good for the unity of the country.

Over the North East insurgency, Mr Shah said that there is peace in the Northeast today and the BJP government has signed agreements with many militant groups. He informed that more than 8,000 armed cadres surrendered and joined the mainstream. Mr Shah said that northeast region, which was earlier known for blockades, bandhs, bomb blasts and insurgency, is now getting road, rail and air infrastructure.
