Filing of nominations for 3rd phase of Jharkhand assembly elections ends today

Today is the last day for filing of nominations for the third phase of Jharkhand assembly elections. Scrutiny of papers will take place tomorrow. Candidates can withdraw their names till Thursday. The election for third phase will be held on 12th December in 17 Assembly Constituencies spread over eight districts including Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Koderma and Ramgarh.

Campaigning is gaining momentum in the state with leaders of all political parties holding rallies and public meetings across the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today address two election rallies in Medininagar and Gumla. This is his first visit during ongoing assembly elections in the state. AIR correspondent reports that tight security arrangements have been made in view of PMs Visit.

Yesterday Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh addressed an election rally at Ramna in Garhwa. He said, Maoists are trying to disturb election process in Jharkhand which will not be tolerated adding that befitting reply will be given to Maoists.

Stalwarts of political parties including Jharkhand Mukti Morcha(JMM), Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) and AJSU are making whirlwind tours throughout the state to woo voters.

Meanwhile, Congress and RJD released their election manifestos yesterday. Jharkhand Congress in charge RPN Singh released the manifestos in Ranchi. The party manifesto includes waiving of loans of farmers upto rupees two lakhs. It also promises all vacant government posts to be filled up in next six months and unemployment allowance for youths.

State RJD President Abhay Singh also released the party manifesto in Ranchi. It includes permanent status for Anganwari Sevika and paramedical staffs and a law to prevent mob lynching in the state. 

The 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will go to polls in five phases between 30th November and 20th December. Counting of votes will be taken on 23rd of December.
