Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today assured students that the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) newly introduced On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, is a “progressive instrument” aimed at ensuring greater transparency. Mr Pradhan was speaking to media after holding a meeting with CBSE officials in New Delhi. Addressing concerns over discrepancies in the OSM system and technical glitches in the re-evaluation portal for CBSE Class 12th examination, the Minister acknowledged that certain issues had surfaced and assured students that all grievances would be addressed during the ongoing re-evaluation process. He said, many universities and institutions in India, as well as several institutions across the world, are moving towards the OSM system. He further added that this is the first time CBSE has implemented this system and nearly 40 crore scanned pages were evaluated for the first time through the OSM process. The minister said the OSM system enables students to transparently access details of their marks and view scanned copies of their answer sheets directly, helping them verify whether any answer or section was overlooked during evaluation.
