A few days before the start of IPL 2020, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) organised a customary pre-season dinner for their players. As per the franchise, the event turned out to be a memorable one as it bestowed players with customised gifts on the occasion.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Shane Watson had shared the pics of their gifts on social media on Thursday while other players too gave a glimpse of their presents later in the day. Since MS Dhoni stays away from social media, the fans were left guessing about what he got from the franchise.
CSK ended the fans’ wait and revealed that they have gifted a golden cap to their captain. Dhoni has led the franchise in every season it has been part of IPL and a golden cap was an apt present for the leader of the Yellow Army.
Stephen Fleming, CSK’s head coach, and Rajiv Kumar, team’s fielding coach, presented Dhoni with the customised gift. Interestingly, Fleming and Dhoni have been together in IPL since the inception of the league.
Back in 2008, Fleming played under Dhoni while he took over as head coach in 2009. He also moved to Rising Pune Supergiant along with Dhoni for IPL 2016 and 2017. Check out CSK’s post –
Dhoni-led CSK are set to face defending champions, Mumbai Indians, in the season-opener on Saturday (September 19). The CSK captain has been away from competitive cricket since July 2019 and will end his sabbatical tomorrow. Soon after landing in Chennai for the one-week camp, Dhoni had also quit international cricket.
The Yellow Army will miss the services of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh during the league. Both the players had pulled out of IPL 2020 due to personal reasons.
While Raina did hint at making a comeback, it is confirmed that Harbhajan won’t be travelling to UAE. CSK are yet to name the replacements for the duo.
