Centre to bring new law for pesticides and seeds

The Centre will bring a new law for pesticides and seeds in the next session of Parliament to benefit farmers.

Minister of State for Agriculture Purushottam Rupala said, the need for a policy on seeds and pesticides was being felt for a long time and the new law will be beneficial for farmers. He was speaking at an event in New Delhi.

Emphasizing on organic farming, Mr Rupala said there is a demand for organic food products in the world and India has the capacity to meet it.

Expressing concern over India’s import dependence on edible oils, he called upon the industry to suggest measures for reducing it.
