In Madhya Pradesh, Election Commission has issued new guidelines regarding Star campaigners keeping COVID-19 in focus. By-elections are being held in 28 assembly seats in MP. The process of submitting nomination papers has already started. All these seats are to be voted on November 3.
In view of the Corona pandemic, the Election Commission has reduced the number of star campaigners for recognized national and state political parties from 40to 30. The number of star campaigners has been reduced from 20 to 15 for registered unrecognized political parties. Joint Chief Electoral Officer DK Jain said that from the notification date of nomination, all parties will now be able to submit the list of star campaigners for 10 days instead of 7 days.
For the permission of the meeting or program of star campaigners, an application has to be submitted to the concerned District Election Officer 48 hours in advance.
Meanwhile, the numbers of COVID-19 cases in the state climbed up to more than 1 lakh 43 thousand after 1 thousand 607 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours. The number of recovered cases in the state reached to more than 1 Lakh 24 thousand. There are now 16 thousand 168 active cases in Madhya Pradesh.
