Bangladesh reports highest COVID 19 deaths in more than a month

The COVID 19 situation in Bangladesh continued to remain worrying with the highest level of deaths in a day reported from the country on Sunday.

According to the latest figures released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday, 47 people died and 2436 new corona positive cases were detected in the country over the last 24 hours on Sunday morning.

This is the highest death count in a day after May 9 when 56 people died due to Corona in the country.

The death toll in Bangladesh has gone up to 13,118. The total number of people infected by the Corona virus is over 8.26 lakh, though the number of active cases is only about 47,400.

The sample positivity rate showed a marginal decline at 12.99 percent on Sunday from the level of 13.25 percent on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh received the second instalment of 6 lakh doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine on Sunday. Bangladesh also signed an agreement with China for the purchase of the Sinopharm vaccine on.
