Bahrain: The Indian School Celebrates 70th Republic Day

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated the 70th Republic Day of India  on Saturday  at the school campus in Isa Town with gaiety and patriotic fervor.  The celebrations commenced with ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan hoisting the Indian National Flag.  Hon. Secretary   Saji Antony, Hon. Vice Chairman Jayafar Maidani, Hon.Asst  Secretary     Premalatha NS,  Hon. Member- Finance Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Member -Academics Mohammad Khursheed Alam,    Hon. Member- Sports   Rajesh MN,  Hon. Member -Health and Environment   Ajayakrishnan V,  Hon. Member- Transport Isa Town Campus Saji George, Hon. Member- Transport Riffa  Campus  Mohammed Nayaz Ullah, Principal VR Planiswamy, Riffa  Campus Principal  Pamela Xavier and Staff Representative  Johnson K. Devassy and Vice Principals attended the ceremony. The dignitaries were ushered into the auditorium led by the School Band.

The flag hoisting was followed by the National Anthem   played by the Indian School Band under the guidance of  Band Master Haji Paul. Holy  Quran recital and school prayer    were rendered by ISB  students.  Then followed the various cultural programs: Dances and patriotic songs by tiny tots from Riffa Campus and teens from Isa Town campus.  Principal VR Palaniswamy welcomed the gathering.

ISB  Chairman Prince S Natarajan highlighted the significance of the  Republic Day  which is celebrated annually on January 26 to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution, which came into effect on this day in 1950. Quoting the Indian President Ram Nath Kovind’s Republic Day message, he said : ‘Republic Day is an occasion to reaffirm our commitment to liberty, fraternity and equality across our society and among all our citizens. And above all, this is an occasion to celebrate India and the spirit of being Indian’.

Students who  displayed outstanding academic performance were   honoured. Head Teacher Jose Thomas and Class XI student Nandini Rajesh gave Republic Day speeches.  Hon. Secretary   Saji Antony   proposed vote of thanks.   The   Indian School Band members and    Scouts and Guides members  were  awarded medals and certificates by the Chairman  and EC  members.
