India’s rising women’s singles star Anmol Kharb kept her cool under pressure to knock out defending champion Lalinrat Chaiwan of Thailand in the quarter-finals of the Guwahati Masters 2024 badminton tournament yesterday.
The Indian badminton player fought back from 11-16 and 16-20 in the second game to earn two match points only to miss out. World No. 99 Kharb faced a similar situation twice in the decider but this time converted the opportunity to win 21-13, 22-24, 22-20 to advance to the semi-finals.
Anmol Kharb will now face Mansi Singh in an all-Indian semi-final. Other Indians making it to the semi-finals at the BWF Super 100 tournament include men’s singles third seed Sathish Karunakaran and mixed doubles fifth seeds Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto.
