In Assam, Environment and Forest department is implementing an ambitious project of building a park by planting tree saplings of 1000 species.
Talking to AIR, Conservator of Forest in Eastern Assam circle Narayan Mahanta said that the project is in full swing in Upper Assam districts including Golaghat, Tinsukia among others.
AIR Correspondent reports, the Sahitya Monikhi Upobons are spread across 3 hectare of land.
The project is being implemented under the CAMPA scheme.
The Conservator of Forest in Eastern Assam circle Narayan Mahanta said that rare and endangered species including herbal, flowering, orchid , bamboo , medicinal saplings are being planted (BYTE).
Mr. Mahanta hoped that this initiative would also be a boon for the conservation point of view.
