Mumbai: Film-maker Anurag Kashyap’s lawyer Priyanka has refuted ‘rape’ and ‘sexual misconduct’ allegations against Anurag Kashyap levelled by an actress who has filed an FIR in Versova Police station. The actress had alleged that Kashyap called her home in 2013 and misbehaved with her.
Priyanka Khemani who represents Kashyap in the statement, said, “Mr Kashyap has denied all wrongdoing in the matter and has provided his statement to the police. The material provided by Mr Kashyap, in support of his statement, demonstrates that the complaint of Ms Ghosh is an outright lie. Mr Kashyap has provided documentary proof of the fact that throughout August 2013 he was away in Sri Lanka in connection with the shooting of one of his films. Mr Kashyap has categorically denied that any such alleged incident ever took place and has also denied all allegations levelled against him.”
On 1st October, Kashyap was summoned by Versova Police to record his statement and to question him in this case. Kashyap’s questioning happened for 8 hours. The actress who had filed FIR also met Governor Bhagatsingh Koshiyari and requested him to provide her Y security. She also got support from Minister Ramdas Athavle. Kashyap’s lawyer calls these allegations as ‘vilifying’. She further stated, “Mr Kashyap is confident that the falsity of the complaint has been exposed, not only by the evidence presented by Mr Kashyap but also the ever-shifting version of events put forth by complaint in the media.”
