Air Chief Marshal reaches Sri Lanka for bilateral defence ties and military cooperation

Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, arrived in Sri Lanka last night for a three-day official visit aimed at further strengthening bilateral defence ties and military cooperation between the two neighbours.The Indian Air Force chief will remain in the island nation until May 21, according to the Sri Lanka Air Force.During the visit, Air Chief Marshal Singh paid floral tributes at the IPKF Memorial on Monday before receiving a Guard of Honour at the SLAF Headquarters in Colombo.He later held bilateral talks with his Sri Lankan counterpart and also called on Sri Lanka’s Deputy Defence Minister and Defence Secretary.The visit comes amid growing defence engagement between India and Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean region. Singh is also scheduled to visit Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and meet the chiefs of the Sri Lankan Army and Navy.
