On the occasion of National Sports Day, a nation-wide Fit India Movement will be launched tomorrow to take the country forward on the path of fitness and wellness.
The campaign is aimed at encouraging people to inculcate physical activity and sports in their day to day life.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick start the campaign at a special function in New Delhi. Mr Modi will also administer the oath of fitness in the programme.
Several athletes have lauded the move. They have urged the people to join the movement for the creation of a more healthy nation.
In an exclusive interview to AIR, Indian Artistic Gymnast and Commonwealth Games medal winner, Dipa Karmakar said, parents should promote their children to join sports. She emphasized the need to make Gymnastics popular in India.
President Ram Nath Kovind will confer the National Sports Awards at Rashtrapati Bhawan in the evening.
