Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday ordered a special investigation team (SIT) to probe into the alleged incident at Trimbakeshwar temple in Nashik district of Maharashtra.
A group of people purportedly belonging to a minority community forcibly tried to enter the Shiva temple through the main entrance on Saturday and tried to offer a chadar.
Mr. Fadnvis said that an FIR has been filed in this case. An SIT under the additional director general of police will investigate the matter.
The SIT will also investigate past instances when similar attempts were allegedly made to break into the temple.
