About SWAMITVA scheme

SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) was launched by the Prime Minister as a Central Sector Scheme to promote a socio-economically empowered and self-reliant rural India.

Using modern mapping and surveying methods, the Scheme has the ability to transform rural India. It paves the way for villagers to use their property as a financial asset to obtain loans and other financial benefits.
During the years 2021-2025, the scheme would cover approximately 6.62 million villages throughout the country.
The Scheme’s pilot phase took place in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and a few villages in Punjab and Rajasthan between 2020 and 2021.
