The Karnataka Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K Sudhakar has informed that better facilities will be created in the state for the treatment of Cardio-vascular diseases.
He was speaking to media persons in Bengaluru today after holding a management committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
A blue print is ready to improve the facilities in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Kalburgi. Under the plan, the number of beds in Jayadeva hospital in Bengaluru will be increased from 700 to 1000.
This will result in the creation of the largest heart care hospital in the country.
The minister said that Infosys Foundation Chairperson, Sudha Murthy has come forward to build a fully equipped 350 bed hospital at a cost of Rs. 50 crore.
The Mysuru wing of Jayadeva heart hospital will have 400 beds for which the Karnataka Medical Council has requested to provide a site on contract basis inside the hospital premises.
A sum of Rs. 37 crore will be released from Kalyana Karnataka development fund to construct a well equipped Jayadeva heart hospital in Kalburgi in north Karnataka.
Right now the hospital is functioning in the premises of JIMS hospital.
Dr. Sudhakar informed that the Central Government has given its consent to establish a new NIV laboratory in Bengaluru.
A five acre land will be allocated for the lab in Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra campus.
